CHAPEL RESTORATION

In 2005, FRA purchased First Christian Church, which included the chapel and the entire south campus. This property was of strategic importance to the school; however, specific plans for its use were undetermined at the time and the chapel wasn’t used for more than a decade.

In early 2018, the chapel was completely restored and opened for the class of 2018 baccalaureate that May. The chapel, named The Scarlett Family Chapel, after a generous benefactor, serves as a visible representation of FRA’s inclusive Christian mission and is one of the only spaces on campus that can hold the entire student body and faculty. The Scarlett Family Chapel is used daily by upper school for convocation, weekly by middle school for chapel, and by our entire school community for important events such as our annual Veterans Day assembly, Spiritual Emphasis Week, and baccalaureate. We have also hosted several choral concerts and Christmas concerts in this stunning space.

"It’s nice knowing that I have a new space where I can sit and just think about my relationship with Jesus and build on that."
